I have began the process of reviving a 57 Indian Apache which has no ignition. Reading previous threads saying 56 Trailblazers had SR2 mags and need a adapter for a K2F and on the other hand the Apache came with a manual K2F. Being new to RE bikes I would have thought these similar 700cc bikes would have the same type ignition. Can some one please set me straight on what will work on the Apache so i can begin the search for a magneto? Thank you in advance.

Hi Sturgis,

The K2F manual was supplied as standard on the Apache.  Good luck with reviving the Apache, post some pics as you go please.

I think the K2F needs an adapter plate, while the SR2 bolts straight on. Bigger flange and mounting stud centres further apart on the K2F.

Thank you both for your responses. It does have the adaptor plate but no mag. Going to ge a little further in build before getting mag.
