Maybe I'm daft, but I can't seem to find a replacement clutch cable for my 2005 Bullet 500 classic 5 speed.  The host online store lists every other conceivable cable but I couldnt find one listed for my bike.

Any help?

If you put clutch cable into the search box it returns 7 items but I don't see any stock numbers.  Assuming you want the heavy duty I would guess that the $37.95 for the 5-speed is the one you want.  If I were you I'd order by phone, during normal working hours, to make sure you are getting what you need.

Leonard,

I did that same search as well.  The part number that you suggest says it is for the vintage control set.

I know others on this board have snapped their cables, anyone have the part number?

Gracias Charro!

I called the store and ordered the cable they reccomended for my model.  The web store is a bit confusing, if I go to cables on the pull down menu and enter 500cc 5 speed, two cables show up, an innner and outer for the speedo....GRRRR.

I guess I'll be splitting the clutch cover off to fish out the ball-end that snapped off this weekend.  Labor day weekend and no bullet, why me?

El Rojo,

If you have bought a Premium cable you may find the cable end will not fit into the slot on the actuating lever in the gearbox. The shank on the cable end is a little fat and needs to be filed so it fits into the slot.

If you search the archive under Clutch Cable on this site you should find a post of mine covering this situation. As for removing the cover from your gearbox you may consider using a magnetic probe to retreive the broken off cable end as there may be enough wire protruding from it for the magnet to grab.
