My Honda Civic is getting long in the tooth and I need a car, much as I'd rather ride a bike sometimes a car is needed.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about the newer Hyundai autos? I know the earlier ones were not a great build but they seem to learned and gotten it together lately.

Build quality isn't an issue anymore. They're great cars made by an industrial powerhouse.

I drove one recently (not a veloster) and was very impressed by the responsiveness of the transmission. -- midway between the zippiness of a Japanese car and the deliberateness of a Volkswagen. I didn't want to give it back!

Three close friends have Hyundai's and they've been faultless, good build quality and good dealer back up. A bit bland though. Long guarantee as well.

Hyundais are great cars.  My 2000 Elantra that I built would eat Hondas for breakfast.  Topped out at about 130mph.  Lost it in my divorce.  :(

Current wife owns a 2004 Accent with 117K miles.  I've only had to do routine maintenance, O2 sensor and crank sensor.  Just did the timing area and still runs like a top.

+1 to all the other replies. Hyundai seems to be like RE inasmuch as they tend to update continuously throughout the model cycle just like the Japanese used to. They are very conservative product wise, and as someone said, a bit bland.

The Veloster I drove seemed to have a lot of blind spots. Not an easy access either.

B&M short shifter, exhaust, cold air intake, and all the graphics on the car I hand drew and cut.  Damn I'm young in this pic.  ;D
