Had 17k miles on the original speedmaster tires. I put a set of K70s on it today. What a chore. The old tires had go give at all. The rear tire was especially tough to remove. Boy what a difference, the handling is so much better

Hello fellow Parkie,
With 17K on the previous tires they served you well. My 06 Electra will probably be looking for a set of tires come spring. Presently I am thinking a set of Avons, They worked well on my 02 Bonneville.
Tire changing is somewhat of a chore especially with tubes. However, if I time my Sinemet intake I can get a few hours of good movement in the morning.

Had to cut the rear tire off. Fred Flintstones car tires were more flexible.

You should try Rytary instead of Sinamet. Works great, very little if any off time.

Back in the day we didn't call them skidmasters for nothing. The reason they last so long is that they're a bit on the hard side. The trade-off is that they don't grip the road too well, especially in the wet.

Hard is an understatement. Makes the suspension work harder. And I could never understand the flat profile. A gentlemen who isn't familiar with Endfields once asked me why I put a sidecar tire on my bike. I'd never thought about it til then, but it does look like a sidecar tire, and probably is.

The SM MkII is now made with a more modern compound, and I was reading that Avon don't make the profile as square thse days!

However, they still wouldn't be my first choice. Avon AM26s seem fine, 3.25x19" front, 100/90x19" rear.

I know K70s are old tech and probably not up to modern standards, but so far, I love the feel of them. And they look great.

The tread pattern is old school but the rubber compound and the carcass are modern. The grind marks on my Iron Barrels foot pegs give testimony to that.

How did you manage that? :) I usually manage 5K front and 8k rear.
