hey guys i tried to do a map where we could see where is everybody from. i tried google maps but - it's difficult for people who don't own gmail mail. it won't work for them, somebody else would have to add those to the map. i assume not everybody has gmail.
i found one public map and did this - there is more info with video how to do it on the blog. let me know what you think, who has experience with a shared google map - tell me how to make not 'googlers' be able to add themselves

   Your pretty close !      I don't get that little tool bar on top of the map, so that I can set " create map point " ?    Or am I missing something or not hitting the right button ?

you are right! when you open the map at first, it looks bit different. my bad and thank you! somewhere on top right is button 'edit map'. when you hit that, those icons will appear. i will change the video

ZeeMaps is not quite as pretty, but easier to setup and use.

hifi guy! i think i know what it is - i think the site has some flash plugin run the map and ipads won't run flash let me add you, i will just slap it into middle of orlando ok? and name will be hifi guy

By the way, not all members of this forum reside in the US of A and Canada.  Just tried putting a pin in between the Equator and the Canal, don't know how it looks to the rest of you guys.  We also have several folks in Great Britain and Australia and India.

I can't save the map after creating my label.  When I press the "save" button, a "Save Map Before Exit?" window appears, but the "Save Map" confirmation button is grayed out.  Same if I try the "Close" button...

and mattsz - or anybody else - I stumbled into the same issue, but solved it. it you cannot save the map, it's because somebody before you tried to save it as a version. so if the save window has 'save as version' on it checked or something. the 'save' button is grayed out. you have to type something into the box and then save appears. i always just type 'added new member'

I thought of "typing something in the box" - but I didn't try hard enough!  I typed just one letter, and the "save" button stayed grayed out, so I quit and came crying to you for help.  In fact, you gotta type two or more letters to have the "save" button enabled...    Go figure!

Also, I followed your video advice about the label text, but mine looks different than yours.  In fact, most of the labels are more or less unreadable on my screen - small black text with glowing red border.  Mine and Desi Bike's are currently the only ones I can easily read...
