3 times in 2 years I've replaced a failed intake hose, this one took a bit more than a "glance over" to locate as is was cracked right under the clamp & affected its' performance mostly when warmed up to operating temp.  This crack wasn't as obvious as the others until the clamp was removed. Thought a pic may help.

Yes, very common.

Stop using factory intake hoses, and substitute a short piece of 1.25" I.D. radiator hose, and that will last much much longer.

If you're using an aftermarket air filter and not the factory airbox, you're adding a lot of extra weight to the end of the intake line and stressing that intake hose. I'd recommend purchasing one of Ace's air canisters. One benefit is the support bracket at the bottom of the canister, which keeps the carb supported well and relieves that extra stress on the intake hose.
