Nice.
How would these compare to the originally suggested SS exhaust pipe adapter (Autozone p/n 17526)...of which I flared and installed.
I'm curious.
Thanks for the original suggestion, BTW.

OK, so you liked the soap, but never walk out of a public restroom smelling your fingers.

Just a larger and more rounded flare. I don't know if there would be any noticeable difference compared with what you have. It looks like it should work fine.

Just out of curiosity, with the new air box, what kind of gas mileage are you getting vs the stock air box design?

Mine hasn't changed. Still does 65-80 mpg depending on the day with PC, motad, ace box and trumpet. Just goes a bit harder.

I never bother with figuring gas mileage with a pleasure vehicle.  Takes some of the pleasure out of it, you know?

What I do know is that with the airbox mod, she now is almost comfortable at freeway speeds.  Which I still try to avoid, other than to get to another section of fun stuff.

Very hard to say...

...but I think it decreased little bit on my bike. This is my record, incl. run-in. Somewhere in the middle I did the mods and riding harder than before.

This is the fly in the ointment.
When you mod for power, you typically then ride harder to enjoy the mods. Very difficult to compare, unless you do a highway mileage test, such as running a constant 60 mph for an hour, and then topping off. And if you didn't do that test "before" you have no comparator.

Weirdly, mine has always used less fuel when its being given the berries than when trying best economy. I got 75 - 80mpg on a long interstate ride with luggage, lots of WOT and wicking on through the hills. Riding conservative, its more like 60, 65 mpg. So I just thrash around, mostly.
Sorry FJ, must sound like  a terrible bore ;) but figuring it out gives me something to think obout.

I can only partially confirm this, the spikes in my second half of the diagram are usually days when I rode constant 75mph/120kmh on the motorway. When trashing around it consumes less.

Well, when the throttle is WFO there is less intake pumping loss, so maybe there is something to that.

Hey, are these air box lids still in circulation for purchase?

It’s a great filter. It makes the air box do what it’s supposed to do.
Have you modded your exhaust? When I put my filter and velocity stack on, I was using a HD XL muffler with the crossover hole welded shut. Better air flow in, made the lack of air flow out; obvious. I bought the Sports muffler. Worked great. But, very loud. I modded the XL muffler with a drill out through the baffles. Not as loud but opened the exhaust flow out better to keep up with the intake. Check a posting by Arizoni on this subject.
I also switched to Dyna Tech coil, with zero resistance wire and an iridium plug.
Now I get to fiddle with LED bulbs while I wait for the ACE Fireball.
