Yeah I think everything's by is there. Less some fasteners, front seat brackets, rear tank bracket and the tool box covers.

Looks like fun, but please recognize that simply because a part is "there" doesn't mean it can be used.
Maybe body parts and external parts could be viewed that way, as a basis for restoring and repainting. Not necessarily so with internal engine parts.

I totally understand that Ace. But it's a good place to start a list of needs. I will be tearing it down completely and examining every piece.
By the way, I don't know if you know my Uncle but he knew of you or his business partner did. My Uncle runs Johnson Cams. He makes race cams for mainly flat track and road race vintage bikes. And his partner does custom head work.
They are going to go through the heads for me and make me custom cams.
I need to get 20 over pistons and they are also going to bore the barrels to match.

Cool!

Don't worry much about the head flow. There isn't much room to port the intakes, and the lack of lift room precludes making a lot of flow anyway. I have been down this road with the Super Meteor,  and the valves are limited by physically hitting the upper retainers against the valve guide at about .400". There is no rocker ratio,  and so cams will need to be around .340" max at the lobe, which is about what the factory Interceptor R performance cams are.
The best bet is a really good multiple angle valve job to make the most of what is there.

We did a huge amount of work on the Super Meteor heads with roller rockers and high ratio, etc, but it cost a lot. We found out where the limitations were.

Haven't really done much but stare at the bike. But I have been getting the workshop set up and comfortable.

Does anyone know of a source for cross rings? I'm going to be going to 20 over Pistons so I will need 20 over cross rings to seal the combustion chambers. Hitchcocks are currently out of stock and don't seem to know when they'll get a new supply.

Thanks Damon

Hello, I am in the middle of restoring my 1965 Interceptor Mk1. I just tore the gearbox apart and am wondering if the rebuild kit, 90117 4 SPEED G/BOX OVERHAUL/SEALED BEARING KIT, that our host sells for the Bullets will work in the interceptor gearbox? I think it would be nice to update to sealed bearings. Any ideas?
Thanks, Damon

If you look on the Hitchcock's site you can get the bearing #'s from there parts book for your '65 Interceptor. Also there sealed bearing kit shows it will only fit Indian Bullets and not the Redditch model Bullets. So I would assume that kit would not work with your gearbox. You could email Hitchcock's, they could probably put a kit together for you. Also you could source the sealed bearings yourself. Just a quick look online I was able to source the large 6206 in ceramic and found that the MS7 (small bearing) possibly could also be sourced in ceramic. The cross reference shows that the MS7 interchanges with MS-7-RR, RMS-5-2RS, RMS-5-2DS, MJ-5/8-2RS.

This company shows that a ceramic is an option. http://www.lily-bearing.com/ball-bearings/single-row-deep-groove-ball-bearings/rms-series-inch/rms5/

Well its been a little while since I posted in this thread. I have gotten a bunch of stuff done to the bike, engine is completely assembled and installed. I have been working out my own custom wiring harness that is a lot simpler then the original and is 12v negative ground instead of 6v positive ground. I still need to strip, seal the inside and paint the tank. Paint the chain guard. I found a R/H tool box lid on eBay that is perfect and am still hunting for a used L/H so I can save some money from buying a new one from England.
i got the Bullet TLS hub adapted to the Interceptor hub and both the front and rear wheels laced and trued. there is a lot I am forgetting but here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

If only I had half of the parts... Good to see you're making progress and I believe you'll be first to finish ;)

Oh man, that is a sweet machine. I've always been partial to the twins but know very little about the R/E twins. Do they ALL have twin carbs or did some have a single carb setup, like the early Triumphs?

Some came with single carbs, my buddy has a 1966 Interceptor and it is a single carb model.
