well i have a weird problem i can only find the 8 number vin on both the engine which is 5B53947A and the frame

That is the only number you need :)

On the 8 digit number you have the 5 is for the year, the B for bullet and the second 5  for 500cc.
3947 is the unique frame identifier for the bike and finally the A is the month of manufacture. Where things get interesting is that the 5 denoting the year used to repeat every 10 years, hence the introduction of a recognisable VIN system which put an end to this confusion.
Looking at the alternator wiring with its 12/94 production stamp and that one of the date of manufactures could be January 1995 (one month later) that's where I'd put my money. There might also be a date stamp on the rear of the points plate for further confirmation.

Never underestimate the value of improved combustion efficiency and reducing parasitic engine and rolling chassis losses.

With all due respect to David Blasco for the wealth of RE information he provides us....the VIN decoding he provided is wrong. And I believe the same format is used internationally.

He begins his 'decoding' with the letter "T", which is actually a 1996 year model, not 1995 as represented. ('95 is used letter "S"). Additionally, there is no letter "U" used in the 17-digit VIN format. (Skipped letters are "I"; "O"; "Q"; "U"; "Z")

Therefore, he remains correct from "V" (1997) thru "6" (2006). So, "7" is a 2007, "8" is 2008, "9" is 2009. The format begins again with "A" beginning 2010.
