I just bought a fairing for my continental but its black and my bike is red. Anyone know what red it is (RAL number, RGB etc)

If you want an "exact" match you'll want something blended at an automotive paint & body supply house. If you take a side cover in they can likely match that.

BUT... I painted my fenders with Rustoleum Sunrise Red and they match quite well. The fenders match the tank and side covers better than the rear of the seat does. So in reality the factory paint isn't an exact match from piece to piece.

"Paint Codes" are an exact match.

"Paint Codes" are an exact match.

The paint code will get you close. Allowing for variations in manufacturer and formulation and surface prep and environmental conditions and application probably close enough in most cases to blend, but not to panel paint - if we were talking about an automotive fender for example. But yes, for a fairing a paint code will get you close enough to an "exact match." But considering the variations in the factory paint - so might the rustoleum.

It also depends a great deal on what experience, skill and equipment you have available for the project.

The code is exact the paint is not. You can machine to an exact dimension but you need a tolerance. Set the tolerance to zero and you are in the world of virtual reality... :o

Exactly! (within tolerances, I mean.)

So in reality the factory paint isn't an exact match from piece to piece.

I think that may have to do the actual material that is being painted.  Automotive paint often looks different on plastic bumpers than it does on metal fenders even when sprayed at the same time with the same paint

From what I can find out, Aerosol paint and such cannot be shipped by air per International rules.

Anyone considering ordering Aerosols should plan on a long wait.
