Hi Everyone . This has been done before, and a few people expressed interest. The thing is, I made a new friend who has a small foundry casting al, iron and bronze , and he invited me to do a small casting project for educational purposes... So after scratching my head for a little I thought I could cast some finned covers to replace the plain ones with the efi logo. Is anyone interested in one ? I already have a machined one from a former member, but I think this would be a good little project if folk are up for it . Please advise . Please advise . Best regards all . Dave .

Oooh, a cast aluminum finned tappet cover!  Hard to polish...

Even though I've got one of the machined ones, too, I'll ask: what'll it cost?  ;)

My interest is peaked for sure.  Those machined ones looked cool and I suspect a cast one if it was polished would look equally as cool.

I'd be interested in one.

Thanks for asking

Hi

Would they fit the Cast Iron engine ? would definitely be interested, however live in the sunny UK, so postage might be an issue

Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history.

Hi,  These finned covers are already available for the PRE - UNIT Enfields, & may be found very reasonably on Ebay. I believe HICTHCOCK offers them as well. Good luck.

I have one of the small run of finned covers made by a former members dad. It is very nice, SEE PHOTOS. If the fellow who is contemplating having some CAST will Please PM me, I have some usefull info on the design, I believe I started the subject rolling by enquiring about them originally. I was originally trying to find a cast one like the EDDIE DOW plate on the 1958 BSA Goldstar I used to own. Including a picture so CAST & MILLED can be compared.

Very Nice.
Never underestimate the value of improved combustion efficiency and reducing parasitic engine and rolling chassis losses.
