I am going to talk to a group of touring riders in riding clinic ( I will be one of several)  at a club event. Question; what is the mileage one might expect from a UCE engine? What is the highest mileage any of you have experienced or hear of? I am at 6500mi. So, that is all I really know.

My 2011, G5 has 17,700+ miles on it.  :)

Most of this is city riding but it does include over 2500 miles of riding on major highways at 60+ mph speeds.

The only things that have been replaced besides normal maintenance items is both tires, the rear chain (once) and the battery (just to be on the safe side).

Thank you as well. Before I present I wanted some solid examples. These guys can be jaded. No Enfields in the group.

No major repairs.

I keep RE at or below 60 mph for most of my rides. Sometimes it goes faster than that for short durations.

Once or twice in a year I get rid of 'cobwebs' in the engine by riding it between 70 to 80 mph for a few minutes ;). I think that 'cleans' up engine and smooths out any rough edges.

I also make use of fuel additives or/and stabilizers as needed. I change engine oil frequently, every 2000 miles, because my older engine design does not drain oil completely. Newer models are better equipped to drain more oil, so they could last longer interval between oil change than mine.

Basically it is a good engine and if taken care of will last many years and many many miles. There are also others in India / Australia / and here who have over 20,000 miles - between 20K to 40K. Mine is not the only one.

It seems that we both ride nearly in nearly the same manner. So, what you say is indeed encouraging. Will be quite honest. When I started the long rides I was a bit hesitant. Certainly was not encouraged by anyone. I spent a lot of time grooming the bike to make sure little things did not turn into big things. Now, I am much less hesitant. But when you are in a remote area 1000 or more miles from home, every little noise is magnified. For an engine without a counter balancer, the bike runs I feel, very smooth at 50 to 55. It is only when you get up to 70mph + that it starts to feel winded and vibrate. Thank you for the response.
