Just curious what silencers y'all are running? I'm personally debating either the slash-cut drag silencer, or the up-swept cocktail shaker (both from nfield gear). Does anyone have any experience with either? I'm also curious if the power commander is really necessary, with just opening the exhaust and a freer flowing air filter. I've been told how wide the EFI map is..though it seems to be of some debate.

   I run with a reverse meg from NfG. Natch it's much freer flowing with a "shower drain" baffle than the OEM pig. The Keihin computer handles it just fine. I did initially have some popping issues on decel, but once the computer figured things out any popping or after-fires are minimal or non-existent.

Awesome. I figured it would figure it out...do you run a an aftermarket air filter at all, or just the silencer?

I've got Nfieldgear's EFI silencer (with custom battle damage) but I think the cocktail shaker is going to have to become a reality this year.

On my 2010 G5 Deluxe I'm running an upturned, NOS 1960's, British made 2 piece cocktail shaker, with a shower drain baffle. Works fine with stock electronics, have an occasional pop on over run. It is reasonably quiet when ridden gently, but barks when more frisky. I recommend up-turned because it will NEVER DRAG, even if shocks are compressed in a corner.

EFI Classic Silencer from our host.  Much better than factory for sure and it seems to have a nice throaty, but not blaty thump.  Louder than factory, but not enough to piss-off the neighbors.  Looks better and weighs a lot less too.

Same here.  Can get them for a steal with as many out there that are cast off for something else.

@mumblemouth:
   Ran with stock filter until just recently. Currently installed is one from O'Reilly's. No change in performance.

Can't beat a Harley softail muffler......nice thump.....not blatty and obnoxiously loud like many aftermarket Bullet mufflers that decorate my garage......plus it has a catalytic converter......and the quality of the chrome is outstanding.

I ordered the "Sports" silencer recently from NField Gear. It was on clearance and they were out of the EFI Classic Silencer.

I'll update how it sounds when I receive it!

I have the sports silencer from NField because it came "free' with the Power Commander. I thought it would be much too loud. At idle you can't tell much difference from stock. The exhaust gets louder in direct proportion to how far I twist the throttle. At full throttle you can definetly hear it, but overall I am not louder than a passing bus or truck. Definitely a lot quieter than many of the Harley's. Has a nice deep sound to it. The muffler's mounting bracket forces the muffler too far out to the right. I have partially fixed this with a different mounting bolt where the passenger foot peg normally goes. I could fix it completely with a three inch long bolt and some washers but I need some fat friends to compress the rear spring and make sure the rear brake rod won't hit it under full compression. Pictures later.
