The centerstand is barely long enough with these changes, and as mentioned, both wheels will be firmly on the ground. The slightly disconcerting part is that the bike will roll off the stand without much effort.

As Mandar points out, on uneven surfaces or slopes, it will be safer/more stable with a longer sidestand.

It might be possible to push some thick wall tubing over the feet of the centerstand, to raise the height a little. A piece of steel or iron pipe pressed on to each foot, and then another piece of larger diameter pressed on over that, might do it without needing to weld.

i checked my center stand size... it's 24cm (9.5")

according to this previous thread 10" center stands exist, i may consider buying one to have a secure center stand... hope they do it in royal maroon... ;)

but first i have to take care of my mudguard stays... Hitchcock says there's only one size...
so i guess i'll have to find a way to give them a little clearance...
it's already short with the 3.5x18 (see the pix), i'm pretty sure i'll have trouble with 3.5x19...
will report...

Hi,
When I shifted from 18" to 19" I have to change the stray as I was using 3.25x19 however if you use the 90/90/19 then there should be not be any issue (Profile for 3.25 is much more than 90/90), though the clearance between the tyre and the mudguard will be very small.

     I am using front mudguard strays from old iron barrel 500 machine.
You need to get the new holes drilled to match the C5 mounting points.

I have one of these on the way.

That was quick, the eBay wheel arrived yesterday and the bearings should arrive early next week. Now I'm agonising over tyre choice but still leaning towards a 90/90.

Im in the process of lengthening my fender stays - tWith my 3.50X19 Dunlop K70's there was less than a 1/4" space.  I took the down to a buddy at a welding shop and they are cutting and adding 3/8 to them.  Total cost around $50 

I looked at a friends older iron barrel stays and they would require some filling and drilling to match.

I'll have to repaint them when I get them back, but that's not a big deal.  I am starting to like to look of the bike without a front fender. 8)

I have single handedly been refuting the big tire craze. Fashion has nothing to do with function. SIZE DOES MATTER in as much as skinny is more nimble than fat. We all love the vintage qualities of our Enfields, so why make a draught horse out of a racehorse. 3.50 is plenty large for the rear. 3.25 is ideal for the front. After 50+ years riding I can say this with certainty. Your handling will become slower & more sluggish (like a cruiser) with fat tires. Fat tires also aquaplane more on wet pavement.  If I didn't "care" I wouldn't mention it.

No one is arguing with you that fat tires handles slower...we get that. 
The reason I went with a 3.50X19 front and a 4.00X18 rear on my C5 is because I wanted Dunlop K70's.  I looked at other brands and styles and this is what I wanted for the type of riding I do.  Dunlop no longer makes a 3.50X18...so no matter how badly I wanted to run a 3.25 front and a 3.50 rear in a K70 it ain't going to happen.

So...you can have a 4.00 rear and a 3.25 front.  Talk about strange handling characteristics.  My good friend ran this set-up on his 2012 C5 and the bike was so freaking twitchy above 50 mph he had the front tire removed after the first 60 miles or so and went with a 3.50 up front.  Is the handling slower...yes...we get that.   Slower is fine for what most of us do.  Few of us want less stability at higher speeds and few of us need to weave in and out of traffic at slow speeds. You have done your part to insure we all understand this. ;)

Could happen if you use a Kinda 3.50x 18 (K70 like), i use it on front side... with my K70 4.0x18 rear... so far i don't have to complain on the Kinda quality...
if i can't figure out how to lenghten the stays, i could use 3.25x19 K70 front and 3.50x18 Kinda rear...

if you look on kendas website youll see the 18inch tyre. a few of us have this combo. k70 rear, kenda front. great tyres. i cannot believe the life im getting out of them.
the kenda tyre is pretty identical to the k70.
