So the big end decided to give up in September, I think the main cause was that one day at work it took me forever to get it to kick start and then when it did it went straight to redline! I found out after hitting the kill switch that someone had either bumped or purposely pulled the throttle cable out of its stop on the handle bar so that it was partially open.
Well after diagnosing the issues and contemplating everything I decided to go the route I have been thinking about for years and ordered Hitchcock's 612 Kit along with some extra little parts.

Damon,

Sorry about your mishap, but now you have a 612.  A 612, how cool is that!  I like it!  ;)
Can you say the TON.  I think not only can you say it, I think you'll be able to do it, Ton-Up-Boy.

Royal Enfield people are good people

Cheers,
Bill

I will get a video posted once it's running.
I painted the barrel black. It does come in a raw aluminum state.
Bill, I know!! I'm so excited to have been able to get this result out of my misfortune.
I've wanted the 612 as long as I wanted an Enfield

Cool Damon! Looking forward to your video.

Did you upgrade the clutch with this kit?

Have always been interested in these type of kits. There is a guy in England that builds these bad ass large displacement Bullet motors. Tollgate Classics built this 666 cc Bullet a few years back. Not sure if there was a video.

Right now it just has the stock clutch with the heavy duty springs. I ordered Barnett plates from our host and am waiting for them to finally get here. They were on back order, as everything I seem to order from them is, but are supposed to be in now. But now they are waiting for the roller clutch release pad.

OK, here it is, The first start:

I did take it for a quick jaunt around the block, keeping the revs down and boy, even before its broken in and with a 19 tooth sprocket it pulls so much harder then it did stock!

The stronger pulling at low rpms is the main attraction of the 612. It pulls the torque curve down lower in the rpm range.

I just got a Bullet and wondering how much this kit costs? Or maybe just the cost of a high compression piston for my 500. Can someone point me in the right direction for parts?

Take a ride over to the 2nd Street Brewery in Santa Fe, and talk to the owner, Rod Tweet. He has a hot rod Bullet there and can tell you all you need to know.

So I just started her up and warmed her to operating temps in the garage while not letting it just idle small blips of the throttle and so on. This is the 4th time I've done this and will re-torque the head once she has cooled off completely.
I did a compression test after I shut her off and came up with
135 psi. I am hoping that I where it will stay and not go to much higher. I have both a 2mm and 3mm spacers stacked with one standard base gasket. I was told that this combo should be good for under 145 psi. I hope so. It sounds so much beefier then it ever did stock and throttle response is so awesome.

Good luck with the 612, it's looking good! My big end in my 500 disintegrated last year, and I rebuilt the engine with an Aplpha roller big end. All good, but when I took the bike on a 50 mile run, it overheated and stopped. The valves were stuck open, because the debris from the big end failure had found its way up into the rocker box and blocked the oil passages to the rocker arms, which were seized in the bearing blocks!
So,a cautionary tale. I have now cleaned out the oil feed pipes and oil ways  a few times to make sure it's all gone. Of course, I should have checked this when I rebuilt.
