I removed mine last night and not an easy task as several broke. took the bike for a run this afternoon and I could definitely hear the fins ringing around the 65 to 70 mph mark......and i'm friggin deaf. well maybe not that bad but I could tell the difference anyway.
I am now thinking seriously about what I have left - shoving them back in their slots.......yes I said slots! so don't try confusing me!....lol

I noticed no difference in noise after removing them. Maybe you started paying more attention to the sound after removing them lol

I can't hear any difference with them off and much prefer the look.

That engine looks so much better without the paint.  How did you get the paint off and the polish so even?

It is not that difficult.
The paint softens fine with a basting brush with acetone or cellulose thinner, then with a scraper and stainless steel wool is removed well.
I think the engine cools much better without that starto of paint in some places has considerable thickness.

I removed the sound dampers very early on.  I never noticed any difference or notable ringing in about 14k miles.  Still, every bike is different.

I only removed the front plates.

Maybe the speed is it. Mine has never gone above 60 mph.

yeah...probably right....too much power with the PCV now!

I pulled mine because I honestly thought they were just for protection during shipping, like the plastic film on most electronics, and because I thought they disrupted airflow around the engine.

In any event, I prefer the look without them.
