None of those "kits" fit worth a shit you're better off just buying the springs. Then go to the hardware store buy some metal strips and make your own brackets.  ERC

I have all kinds of flat stock and rolled steel at work.  That's why I was saying I could make it after work or something.  Pending where this potential new job leads, I may be able to build a whole bike from scratch!   :D

I'm still not sure why I haven't bought stock in Ace Hardware yet.....  Or my own store.   ;D

blasphemous,
congrats mate, on your bike. It will teach you lots. These bikes can be owner-converted into decent, tough little bikes but in their stock form they can be delicate.

Not to panic you, as your bike has low miles on it, but I assume it still has the OEM piston in it.  That NEEDS replacing when you can get around to it.

...not so much the piston, but I was told that there are like brass bushing/bearings that go bad in the early 2000 Royal Enfields. Mine is labeled as a Enfield India ( EI Just Enfield on the tank) and seem not to have much problem. But, the head gasket is much like what was on the late 70's Chevys, they blow real easy. So I would invest in a good one and replace.  ;)
