oookay, just got back from a trip - brooklyn, montreal, ottawa, toronto, buffalo and back to brooklyn... 8 days (i think). will wrote bit about it after i get settled back in and will throw some pics in :) ride was amazing. this happened on 2014 military classic and - NO ISSUES. one thing only - had some noise in the front, it took me day to figure it out - tank bolts got little loose. one stop at canadian mcdonald, righty tighty - done - back to good. i think i talked more to people about the bike than the actual riding but - that's the beauty of it! enjoyed every person stopping by wanting to chat a bit and share stories and hear mine. attaching few pics and an approximate map

What speeds were you mainly cruising at and did you ride any major highways? I ride a G5 and I'm planning to do some longer trips this summer, but I'm concerned about highways and cruising speeds. I've had it up to 65mph but it felt like I was reaching it's limits.

hey motomike. DO IT! too few people seem to be going out on enfields for the real fun long rides.

i have to say - best speeds were 45-55, i love those, that's pure enjoyment. 60-65 was good. i know i did 70 on the long canadian highways, quite a bit. it all vibrates but maybe i got used to it. i have no other bike to compare it to. above 40 i dont see anything in my rear mirrors anyways… but what i found crazier than the vibrations is the wind hitting me at the 65-70 speeds :) so all together, yes i had the same feeling that 'i'm reaching the limits' :)) it's fun now, but i know i had to get used to it little by little. there were times when i didnt want to ride above 55mph that was the 'limits' for me then.

one thing what i was doing was: when riding with cars behind me going speeds i couldn't or didn't want to do - i waited for no traffic towards us or for part of road with big(ger) 'shoulder' of the road (is that the right term for it? i'm not native english speaker) - I slowed down, moved aside a bit and waved to the cars to pass me. they always appreciated it, waving me back or blinking. i didn't do it for them but for me. when i couldn't keep up with the traffic - i rather had nobody behind me than some local dude in a big truck, rushing somewhere

so - do your speeds. i mean, you cannot go faster than it lets you anyway ;) when you realize it's too much, hit the next exit and find some parallel road next to the highways. they are always more scenic anyways and i love that. and i had to do it on some highways when it became too windy too. even fully loaded bike, it was so light, i had some real scary moments because of that.

share with us, when you ride. i cannot wait when i take the green beast out again
