So I was looking at the owners manual recommended service and I saw that it says every 7500 miles to change the fork oil.  Really?  Most every thing else made some kind of sense, but is that something left over from the Iron Barrel days or do we really need to do that, and if so, Why?

I'm using Amsoil ATF, & plan to forget about it until it indicates a problem.

It's worth looking at. Unless things have changed, these bikes come with evil looking grey sludge instead of fork oil, in random quantities each side. Changing fork oil is easy on the G5, but not so easy on the C5 apparently. Decent oil improves the ride.

Definitely need togat the sludge that comes in the forks out. Should do that at 75 miles,  not 7500. It'll improve the ride substantially. However, I would not recommend Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATF) when the are Made-for-the-Job fork oil is available. The ATF is an old wife's tale from the '50s before fork oil was on the market and the factories recommended engine oil. USe the real stuff, it's not any more expensive and does the job properly.
I used 10W in my G5 and the ride improved markedly.
They also say to pull the head at 17,000 miles and decarbonize the piston. Definitely a holdover from the 1955 manual which also goes for their breakin ritual. I sincerely hope someone actually got around to updating the Continental GT book!

+1, real fork oil is cheap and readily available.
