I've been contemplating a muffler change on my '06 Military. The stock
muffler seems out of place on a military bike. Large, heavy and chrome.
I've finally located a replacement that looks like it belongs.
A company by the name of "Stanley" offers a muffler for a Massey Ferguson
tractor that looks like it will practically drop into place. The model "MF13".
A straight thru design that is already painted flat black. Inlet ID, body OD
and overall length are quite close to the stock muffler. I'm sure a tweak
of the carb is in order after installation. I'm having a tough time locating
a retailer, so have contacted the manufacturer and await a reply. Will
post additional information as the project continues.

Figuring out how to support it in a horizontal position might be a challenge.

I doubt if it has any built in hangers attached to the outside of the large body that could serve as a place to attach a support and you can't just rely on the existing exhaust pipe to hold it.
The existing exhaust pipe on a RE is doing good just to stay attached to the cylinder head without having to carry the extra weight of a muffler.

I just flipped the stock hanger around for mine, then the holes lined up with the slotted bolt holders on the Harley silencer...

The pipe is supported at the head, by a friction fit, further down by a clamp
by the crankcase, and just near the end of the pipe by one last bracket.
I think the pipe is well supported. There is a bracket by the rear footpeg
mount that bolts to the back side of the muffler. I plan to "roll my own"
clamp to attach the muffler to the existing bracket. Should be just a simple
strap around the muffler. I'm sure the tractor muffler will weigh a LOT
less than the stock muffler, so I don't expect any trouble hanging
it. The dimensions of the muffler are almost ideal. The 2 1/2 inch long
inlet has an ID of 1 3/4 inches. The OD of the muffler is close to the OD
of the stock muffler. Overall length can be adjusted by trimming the 11 inch
tail pipe. And it's already painted flat black! Still haven't heard from the
manufacturer. Rather than await their call, after filling in an online
request, I think I'll call them Monday.

if the fit is'nt perfect your local muffler shop has a device that fits in a pipe and slightly expands it.

Ordered the muffler last Wednesday. Hoped for delivery today. Will
probably see it tomorrow. Should be a close fit, if I measured correctly.
My local auto parts store has a tailpipe expander at a reasonable price.
I'll have to check one of the stores that lends tools. Perhaps they'll have an
expander I can borrow. I like that price even better...

I can't remember if AutoZone has an expander or not but I know Advance Auto has a tailpipe expander in their exhaust tool loaner kit.

Simple wrap-around strap, similar to what Baird showed in his pics, is fine.

The muffler was waiting for me when I arrived home after my last post.
It looks like everything I had hoped for. Haven't yet popped off the old
muffler to see if the new muffler inlet diameter is correct, but it looks close
enough. A tweak with a pipe expander would be all it could possibly need.
I've picked up the parts to fabricate clamps and mounting brackets and
am well along in the process. Should have the new muffler mounted in the
next day, or so. Am excited. Looks far more appropriate for the Military than
the stock muffler. Where I thought it would be a straight thru
design, as were similar mufflers I saw at the tractor supply, it does have
some baffling. It does, however, allow a lot of light to pass thru the baffling.
I think I shall be happy with the end result. Looking forward to posting
the end result in the next few days.
