The only thing that could ruin that bikes supreme classiness, is me sitting on it.

So clean that it almost looks like a plastic scale model motorcycle.

Who ever designed this bike has a very good eye and sense of style, art and modern trends. I am impressed. I will say that any 1973 type bike has no legal paperwork if they are imported into the US. I see 500cc bikes all of the time on the internet who claim to be something other than what they are. Not making a comment about this particular bike just saying....

In the blog post the builder, Chappell Customs, mentions the ambiguity of the model year:

"The actual model year of this Enfield is a mystery: the original number plate indicated 1955, but no paperwork was filed prior to 1973. “The VIN numbers on old Enfields really don’t mean much, and there are no good records we can find to verify the year,” says Chris. So, to get the bike on the road, he went with 1973."

While not germane to this conversation if you contact the Royal Enfield Owners Cub in the UK they have a remarkable list of all VIN's that left the RE factory in the UK

Yeah, I really didn't understand the "don't mean much" comment.  I think your average Joe doesn't realize how much Enfield-support/knowledge is out there in the world.  I'd think they DO mean something...

I imagine their DMV trips were interesting.
