Anyone think the rubber in the swingarm bushes stands a chance vs. the heat of a powdercoating oven?

You don't want to leave any extra parts in there if your going to paint or powder coat.  Besides, it only takes a minute to slide them out of there.

No, these have to be cooked, mutilated, and beaten quite awkwardly and forcefully out.

The fact that people use a torch as the first step in removal is what makes me think they won't survive.

I powder coated my whole bike. The company said I had to remove the bushes. I think it is BS. I had to use a torch to melt the rubber to get them out. I don't think a powder coating oven reaches the temp of a torch. if I could do it again, I would leave them in and take a chance.

Right on.

I was hoping the same thing, and figured I was better off at least giving it a shot, because taking them out destroys them anyhow.

Many powder coatings require a bake temperature of around 400*F (204 degrees C).

Most synthetic rubbers and plastics go to hell at temperatures that hot.

Another reason some places insist on all plastic/rubber parts are removed is many of them out-gas when they are heated that hot and the vapor can contaminate the oven making it unusable until its cleaned.
