I purchased the Nfield Gear (C5 / B5) 5 pack Oil Change Kit #Z91499 for my C5 Military and found I had not needed the small copper washer 5/8" OD X 5/16" ID (p/n 144600, and the small 3/8" o-ring (p/n 500621). Are these for the B5, or did I miss something?

I am using Motul 15w/50 Semi-Syn 5100 / 4T Ester.

Also, having followed the service manual and owner's manual instructions tipping the motorcycle side to side with both the magnetic drain plug, and the sump assembly remove, I expected to refill with about 2.5 quarts of oil, but it only took a little less than 1.9 quarts to reach the max line. I did soak the oil filter so that would account for about .1.

I rode it for a few miles, shut it down, waited 2 minutes, and it remained at just below max.

The smallest o-ring in the kit is installed on the oil filter cover.  If you remove it and look at it closely you'll notice there are two pieces of metal sanwiched together under the spring.  The small o-ring gets sandwiched between them on the spindle.  It's not terribly obvious, you have to look.  If you put your bike on the side stand and it's cold, you can remove the oil filter cover without spilling more than a few drops of oil.

The small copper washer might be if you have the later models with a forward drain plug, not sure.

The Nfieldgear kit has several parts that are not needed for a normal oil change.

During an oil change, leave the spring loaded filter by-pass device alone.  There is no good reason to take it apart as the o-ring etc will last for years if it isn't disturbed.

The idea of replacing all of the o-rings during an oil change is pretty common on aircraft but on a motorcycle the only good reason to replace them is if one is definitely leaking.
