I have a RE Thunderbird Twinspark (2011, UCE, no decompression lever). I need to spend at least 5-10 minutes everyday to get it started. Once it has run for sometime, all subsequent starts and the electric start work like a charm. If it is a few hours to the next start, this problem creeps up again.  :'(
What is the step by step way to do this? Each time seems to be different and I'm not able to settle on a specific method.

Thanks in advance.

I might add that if the motorcycle is fuel injected and cold,  pushing and holding the "bi-starter" lever in the applied position when starting will help to get the engine running.

If the engine has a old fashioned carburetor then, like all carburetored engines, the rider needs to learn what the machine likes and then use that method every time.
For instance, with a cold engine, my old Ducati single insisted on having its carb "tickled" for more than 1/2 second but never longer than 1 1/2 seconds before kick starting it.  If I followed this routine it would start on the first kick.  If I didn't, it would start one kick before my leg fell off. :)

Thanks for the links, JVS, they'll come in handy when my electric start misbehaves again.
