But wait... this article is talking about "the 250cc – 750cc segments" - which is what we have now.  I don't think this is foreshadowing anything new...

Yep.  Still no talks of a twin which is what Enfield HAS to do to continue competing in this market.

+1.  They now have two sizes of bike in the global 250-750 range: 500 and 535.  No mention of any other sizes forthcoming.

Actually, in my mind , a 750 single would be pretty interesting...no doubt it will be a twin.

A 750cc single would mean a piston size of roughly 143mm.  That is a HUGE piston for one single piston rod to be pushing up and down IMHO.  The biggest singles I know of in production only go to 650cc and then they start going to a twin configuration.  I'm know there are bigger singles out there, but not in production format I believe.

Either parallel or twin makes no difference to me. But a 650 definitely would be sweet.

The old rumors from the factory were a 750 vertical twin, but I've heard 650, too. It will be a vertical twin an either case. All the old postwar bikes were vertical twins (or singles). Why do you think they would change that? They might go for a balance shaft as vertical twins are notorious shakers! Yes, Mable, they can be a lot worse than a thumper!

Yeah, about 800cc is the limit for a vertical twin before it starts to shake way too much.  I think you can go past that with modern counterbalancers but you won't see any older bikes bigger than that.

I was told there is a V-Twin coming to the UK... not just from a single source either - hopefully true!

The "V" is a 180 V and it's called a BMW...no vibration either.......chuckle-chuckle.

Maybe we'll be surprise as they were able to keep it under wraps the past few years...Meh, I think we've been hood-winked again... 8)

When I was at the International Motorcycle Show my dealer told me Royal Enfield was making a 750 twin due out in the next couple years.  If you look at the frame for the Cafe Racer there is plenty of room for a parallel twin 750.  To me it seems over built for a 535.

The biggest singles I know of in production only go to 650cc and then they start going to a twin configuration.

690cc in KTM's Duke and Supermoto.  Two supposedly amazing machines, but probably not the kind of riding profile you'd see in an Enfield.

An interesting single that Ducati came up with. With a "Dummy connecting rod"  as a counter balance.

A better thing to do with a spare Ducati con rod:

Maybe the second coming for the Intercepter 750!!  That was a 750cc vertical twin, my 1964 was a smooth engine.
