That's what I've been wondering.  It seems several dealers across the country already have deposits on a lot of bikes...I would like to think those would get priority but you never know.  I just wish that first shipment had been larger

Two winters ago, the Coast Guard icebreaker assigned to our area went to the Great Lakes for the winter.  We had crap cell-phone WIFI on the boat, and so we followed their progress on the Marine Traffic website, up and around and through the Canadian Maritimes and up the Saint Laurence river.  It was interesting, but rather like watching the worlds most boring video game.  I'm sure anyone who is waiting on their new Conti watches the slow progress with more enthusiasm!

(If anyone is curious, you can follow all the misdeeds of the boat I work on:

http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/367519240/vessel:CAPT_E_FRANK_THOMPSO

I'm truly ashamed by the boat's appearance; it's got to be one of the top ten ugliest boats afloat - the biggest benefit to working on it is that I don't have to look at it.)

Some work required to turn that duckling into a swan.  ;)
Isn't this the area where Melville got inspiration for his novels?

I could be wrong, but I heard imported bikes went to a customs warehouse, where they stay tax free, until they are released when fees are paid, as part of the orders to ship them arrive. Rather than paying fees on an entire unsold inventory.

I thought the boat was going to land in Norfolk. It has passed by there and is headed for Savannah. Anyone know where they will be unloading the GT's?

I heard Royal Enfield of Fort Worth already has deposits for 20+, so I wouldn't be surprised if the entire lot is already sold.

SAVANNAH GA. Is a big shipping port. but you'd think they'd send a boat to the west coast as well.

Great links, many thanks.
I got nicknamed Ishmael at the Academy.  ;D
50's film made a lasting impression on me as a lad. Still find Moby Dick best book as introduction on whales ever. Melville is a great author.

My dealer mentioned that the GT's would be trucked to Oregon from the east coast.

Royalista - look up the true story of the whaleship "Essex", which inspired Melville's Moby Dick.  A good resource is Nathaniel Philbrick's In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex : excitement, adventure, foolishness, bravery, cannibalism... what more could you ask for?!?

After checking out http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/in-the-heart-of-the-sea-nathaniel-philbrick/1101101582?ean=9780141001821 I've put it on my "must buy to read more than once" list.
Thanks for a great suggestion.  :D

I don't know about the status of the Conti's, but I know this:
"In the Heart of the Sea", my copy of it has arrived.
And it proves to be even better than advertised.
I hope the GT's will match that and more.  ;D

I'm glad you like it!  I've liked all the Nathaniel Philbrick books I've read so far...

I will try to find a copy of that one myself.
Some sea stories I have enjoyed, I found after reading ALISTAIR MacLEAN's H.M.S. ULESSEYS about a convoy to Russia in WWII. Then I discovered DOUGLAS REEMAN's series of books on aspects of war at sea. Great fiction based on historic events - Hard to put them down.
Best Wishes, Craig McClure

First shipment has been released by customs, second one should be ready in 7-10 days,  according to RE's facebook feed.  There is light at the end of the tunnel!
