A little something for the new year...

That's a late 350 Redditch-built Bullet, or most of one, 1959? Small (17") wheels but still with the Lucas SR1 magneto. Most of the bits I want are there or already in the garage.

Let's see if we can give the old girl a bit of dignity:

Easy restoration, wasn't it?  ;)

Regards,

A.

Thanks for the comments guys.

SR2 Magneto - good kit if the SR1 is anything to go by, get it rebuilt if needed and get the auto advance and retard unit done at the same time.

17" wheels - Scottie, you will be welcome to the rusty rims in due course! 18" WM3 for the rear and 19" WM2 for the front is what I have in mind, Morad TC alloy or stainless steel for preference. I'm sure your local wheel builders can find you a set of 17" rims in much better condition, but tire choice for these is less impressive than for 18" rims, though not impossible. Hopefully losing 1" of ground clearance wouldn't cause you problems.

And yes, I have already spoken to B.W. about this, it is highly likely I shall be asking him to build whatever engine it ends up with - as Asbo # 12 has the fully sorted AVL lump, I'm thinking of something more traditional (looking).  ;)

I guess those wheels are a bit rougher than I thought when I looked on my phone.  :D  I realize that tire options are limited for 17" wheels, but ironically, the also have the best availability for performance tires.  I'll probably just end up using my 16" wheels from my Chief.

The sr mag is real simple just like a Fairbanks Morse, Joe hunt ETC.  ERC

For those who might not have seen it, I found this picture of a restored '59 350 Bullet in over in the Members' Rides section of the Photo Gallery as an interesting comparison:

Mine will look a little different but still classic.
