I read in an English motorcycle forum that this guy had read that he needed to re-torque the cylinder head after running the engine to get it warmed up.

It was a bit nippy out and he did'nt fancy a trip out so he warmed the engine up with a hair dryer so he could re-torque the cylinder head to specifications as per the book.

He went on to say that this was a good way of doing it and he was suggesting this as an alternative,----sigh.

He must be having a laugh.

Torque specs are COLD readings. Due to uneven heating and expansion of components you can't get an accurate torque reading on a hot engine. When it cools down from a "hot torque" threaded fasteners will now be over torqued and  this will damage the threads.
