Hi all, and a very Happy New Year to you everyone.

I rechecked and there is zero AC output on the orange and yellow wires from the alternator hence have ordered in a new stator complete with a new magnet (the existing magnet is very weak).

My question is - how does one remove the rotor and I believe there is a woodruff key involved holding it in place?

Thanks

Yes there is a Woodruff key .
The rotor usually will just pull off by hand.
If it is stubborn, you can use a puller.

thank you Ace. Is the nut holding the rotor threaded clockwise or ACW? I saw elsewhere on the forum various posts about holding the crank in place by placing the engine in gear and braking or stuffing cotton cord into the head. What would you recommend?

The rotor nut is a regular thread. The reverse thread is on the other end of the crank in the timing chest. So just unscrew it normally.

When I remove mine, I just have someone step on the rear brake pedal with the transmission in gear.
That locks up the whole drive train, an it is then easy to unscrew the rotor nut.

Just received my new 4 wire alternator. But I see that one of the coils has an additional red wire (with a bullet plug) and a green wire with a round clip the type you can insert a screw through. What are these additional wires for? The standard 2 x violet and 1 orange and 1 yellow are present.... Thanks!
