In case it is of interest to anyone, there is a feature in the Jan / Feb edition of Classic Racer. I restored this machine a few years ago and still look after it for the owner and run it occasionally.

Very nice looking machine.

Interesting gear shift set up.  How is the gear shifter mounted?

Regards Charles

Hi Charles and thanks everyone for your kind remarks. The gear lever set up caused a bit of head scratching. I had already fitted a new pair of downpipes which came to me with the spares supplied with the bike and the gear lever set up made no sense at all, until, in the bottom of one box I found this, which explained everything - I had it rechromed, fitted it and everything fell nicely into place ...

Thanks mate, some one had obviously thought about it very carefully. You did well to figure it out.

Cheers Charles

Nice job, some lateral thinking in the use of the exhaust, too.

Is that a BSA A65 Lightning Clubman's seat on there, by any chance?

Regards,

A.

Hi Adrian,
That seat came from Burton Bike Bits and originally had a plastic R.E. badge in the rear hump. It was fitted to our first 500 Fury racer and damaged in a crash. Later, it was repaired, recovered and repainted and fitted to this machine with the recess for the badge filled in.

Cheers,

I have seen these with BSA badges on the Burton Bike Bits web site, I guess it's an easy badge swap...
