Hi all
Probably a noob question.
Did my first 500km oil change on the C5 yesterday without incident :)
What I have noticed since though, and I may be jumping at shadows.
The little 'whir' as you turn the key on, I assume it's the computer checking systems.
It turns off as normal after a second, but then starts up again one I start the motor, and when it's running.
Pretty sure it didn't do that previously.
There's no fault light, and the bike runs as normal, but normally the whir stopped after the key is turned and ready for ignition. Now it's constant throughout running.
Have I just not noticed it previously or is it searching for a fault?

Nothing to worry, you must've not noticed it before, but it keeps working like that whilst running. You can hear it on idle if you listen closely, which you have done.

That 'whirring' is the fuel pump sending fuel in.

It's just the fuel pump spinning up to pressure.

Just a thought, but you guys that are still riding in these fall/winter temps and your motors are noisy you should consider running a lighter weight oil.  When motors start getting noisy in the cold that is usually a indicator that the oil is too thick and not lubricating the parts properly.

It's normal.... That whiring you hear when you turn on the ignition is the pump coming on, and the injector firing a shot to prime the chamber.  Then it shuts off, until you hit the start button.  After you start the bike, the pump runs continuously. IF it didn't ?.... your bike would not run.  You may not have noticed this before ?...... Or I suspect you may have less fuel in the tank now to deaden the sound. As the tank gets empty... it's more hollow, and the sound may be more pronounced.

And, with 500 on the bike the swishing noise from the rings on the machined cylinder wall has subsided..... your bike idles quieter now, so, you notice the fuel pump running.

It's a good thing !
