It's kind of like people who don't have a pot to piss in who are being told to access medicaid via the exchanges vice applying directly as they probably wont qualify that way....Guess those numbers applying will be going up after all...And now back to more important things like the lunch box light on the back of my enfield..
Oh Magoo you done it again

Here's one tail light I'm looking at:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-Tail-Brake-Light-License-Plate-Holder-Relocator-Bobber-Cafe-Racer-New-/360727869054?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53fd0e767e&vxp=mtr

The link to the light I ordered is above. It arrived today. It is well made & I like it.

Be aware, however, that if you order this light, be ready, because of the configuration of the fender, the fender mounting hole's position, the fender wire hole & the configuration of the light bracket itself, you must fab up an additional small, simple bracket of some type that offsets the bracket from the fender. There is NO way this light will mount to the RE fender by itself unless you point the lens at the ground & even then half the wire hole is covered.

I'll create a bracket because I really like this little light.

You can pretty much use whatever lights your heart desires.  There is hardly anything out there that is "model specific" aside from OEM replacement parts.  Pretty much all aftermarket lights (turn signals anyways) have the same diameter stem and 3 wire installations.  Tho, sometimes you do need a little ingenuity and some basic power tools.

Nothing is Plug & Play on a motorcycle if you want it to be bulletproof, work right & look right. Anything you chose to do will be triple the time you think it's going to take + another trip to the hardware store. I have 50 years of stuff accumulated in my garage from working on cars & bikes & I STILL have to go to a store at least once on EVERY project I do. And I have built whole cars & bikes in this garage.

I've just spent another two hours (with no lunch) on this tail light project
after another trip to my favorite hardware store. All I accomplished today was getting the tube with the wires in it out of the fender, getting the wires out of it, separating out the directional wires (I'm moving them), getting rid of the unneeded ground wire, rerunning the three wires & the tube into the forward fender hole & out the aft fender hole. Then I sprayed the new bracket I fabbed yesterday its second coat of black.

More later. I'm gonna get some "lunch"   :)  ;)

I Gotterdun yesterday. It's good. Am happy.

Getting the wiring safe & happy inside the fender took the longest of all the steps.

More later. Gotta take the dog out & it's reeelly shitty here today.

   Here's some tail light porn   ;)    :D

              Thanks,

I know. It's a sickness. There's actually crap all over on the rug that you can't see.

Here's another angle. I put a few drops of Gorilla Glue on the wires then shoved the black wire sleeve back over them & into the housing really good so no colored wires will ever show:

Thanks. I think  it went well.

Nah. The duct tape now is no good anyway except Gorilla Tape & it's too damn expensive.

Here's how I made the wires safe & happy. I ran a piece of flexible aluminum wire (about 2X thickness of a coat hanger) up inside the plastic sleeve the wires run inside of. Then I ran the whole thing out the hole & hooked up my three bullet connectors which I had filled with electric grease. Then I TyWrapped the connectors to the wire & taped them.

Then I pulled the whole thing back through hole & put the wire sleeve back into its clips. THEN I was able to shape the aluminum wire to hold the shape of the fender so the 'lectric wires & connectors can never sag into the wahrs. Cool?

That's the part that worried me the most. Yes, the whole thing took Way longer than I thought it would. But I'm used to that; I'm a dinosaur   ;)   :)

Running an internal supporting wire is a cool idea.  I may try it with piano wire I have laying around.  Thanks!

Royal Enfield.  ORIGINAL GI Joe collection.  Betty Page.  And a Jim Norton book.

That's quite the eclectic collection for ones' garage.  You must be alright.  :D
The taillight looks great too!  Good job!

Those pictures just scratch the surface of 50 years of stuff accumulated in that garage. And I've weeded out a LOT of it over the past ten years.

Bettie,  Scottie. Bettie. Many of my earliest sexual experiences were shared with her  ;)  ;), nudge, nudge. She was a sweetheart.

Norton!! Perfect example of a hilariously twisted mind turned stand-up comic. I love irreverant iconoclasts of every kind. I "grew up" with Lenny Bruce & Mort Sahl watching our government become 100X the malignant sewer it was then.

All that's left to do in The Great Tail Light Saga is pick up two more matching bolts & nuts for the lower license plate holes. (Yes, I'm a detail freak).
