Go Dogs.  We just got a 10 week old mixed something and have started her in the car.  So far she only rides with a human but seems to not mind.  Think it helps to start them young.

Cannot stress the importance of the tether enough.  And, make sure it is SHORT enough! Had Kozi in the car this morning, rolled up to a stop sign right by our back yard and she got "inpatient". Leaped out of the car as it was rolling to a halt! Almost ran over her with the sidecar wheel.  Scared the devil out of both of us.

She seems to be okay and went for a ride in the big rig (with my wife holding her) shortly after her near fatal encounter.

Be careful folks.

My problem is keeping the dog out of the sidecar.
