I was building a 350ci small block swap into a Gen 2 Mazda RX-7.  When I was finished I was going to have the license plates read "WHT RICE".  LOL  I never ended up finishing that car because my best friend bought the motor from me for his truck before I had a chance to drop it in the Mazda.

I'd enjoy having a Vanity Plate, Except it would hurt my credibility, & make it difficult, when I make excuses, & whine about cost at the DMV window.

I would belong in Campfire talk, I imagine, especially to include those who don't come the the UCE section - but just for fun, I'd like to see a thread for members to post what they've got for vanity plates...

I thought a good idea for a vanity plate for an Enfield would be "LOCNLD".

This reminds me - often people "cross out" their license plate numbers when showing photos of their own cars and bikes.  What's the danger of posting a pic with my number showing?  Other than photographic evidence that my vehicle was in a certain place... yikes, scary!

1. Licence plate fraud; duplication = speeding + parking fines under your name. Even though tons of people see your plates whilst you're out on the roads.
2. Scammers using your photos to sell vehicles they don't even own
3. Paranoia

I blur out my plates because of reason 3 primarily, with respect to 1 and 2  :-\

I dunno, it just seems completely daft to me.  My number plates are visible to thousands of people as I drive around, and hundreds of people via all the CCTV cameras in our cities.  It's just completely ridiculous and irrational to blur the numberplate on a photo when it's plainly visible all day, every day, to all and sundry.

JVS, you can safely dump the paranoia!   :)    There is no logical reason for it.

In some states (California excepted) the registered owner of a license plate is public information - information available to anyone who chooses to ask.  People *I* know began blurring their plate number in photos to avoid the Trolls finding their address and making off with their ride in the middle of the night.

My aunt and uncle wanted 'GRASMAN' for their plate, their last name.  Florida DMV initially denied the request and wanted to talk to them, thought they were dealing weed. ::)

You gotta wonder why the DMV thinks that's any of their damn business. Just register my bike & get your nose outa my a**. We're being "government agencied" to death; Federal AND State.

In the UK, we haven't got much choice about number plates but they can be bought at the Government's licensing organisation (DLVA) or at private sales and auctions.

1D sold for £352,000 ($551,000) in 2009!

I had this one on my lifted 78 Bronco with nitrous and 39 inch tires back in my redneck days.  In this day and age I don't think it would a allowed. At the same time as I had this plate, my friend had SED8ED as his plate.

My first Motorcycle Vanity Plate. I have really got it made, but paid my dues. Now I can park my bike (almost) anywhere I want, sidewalk-no problem. It didn't even cost me any extra. Next to my low number there is a picture of a little guy in a wheel chair. Florida actually has Disabled plates for motorcycles. It's great, but I'd really rather not walk funny.

First time a saw a disabled plate on a Motorcycle I just stood there thinking "What the heck?" The owner came out on crutches and got on the bike after stowing the crutches on the bracket on his bike and rode off. Why Not? I'd rather ride my bike that drive a car.
