Seems to me the new temporary "owner" could at least put a few hundred in it by replacing the headlight rim and gas tank before he tried to sell it.

At $2900 asking price he'd make money even if fixing it cost him $600-$800.

I agree.  Seems like a pretty steep price for how beat up it still is.

This has come and gone a number of times since "the accident".  I try not to bring it to his attention...  :(

I wan't aware that his bike has come and gone a few times.  I was just so surprised to see it there, I wanted to let him know immediately.  Bare, my apologies if this is just salt in the wounds.  Not my intention.

Not a problem. Actually it was still drivable when I looked at it after the crash. The master Cylinder for the front brake was kinda beat up, but I think it still worked. I could've fixed everything on it for under $1500. That's why I was so pissed that it got totaled. AFAIK, it's been on Craig's list continually. Doesn't really bother me any more, the Goose had been good therapy! It gets the attention the RE got and it'll actually cruise down the freeway at 85! I'm happy! I do still wish the Continental had gotten here 6 months ago, but I'll survive! The goose is a lot faster, handles well, and pretty much does everything right, except get 70MPG! It's coming up on 8000 miles, so I'm not really missing any rides.

I probably could have fixed mine for less than $500 for new shift and brake levers and an India made frame (plus my time and labor), but since the frame was bent, they wouldn't hear of it.
It sold at auction with a non-rebuildable title for $1500.  At least no one will be riding it unless they register a new frame.

The more expensive stuff mine needed was a tgank, EFI muffler, and the seat reupholstered, which I was planning to do anyway in the next week or so after the date of the crash.  I couldn't really tell whether the bars were bent or not but a cursory look didn't look like it. The levers and switch boxes and master cylinder were scratched and the bar ends mirrors were scratched up or bent. AsI said $1500 would have covered most of the stuff and a lot of it could've been saved with just a paint touchup. They offered my the bike for $900 and I'd have to get the Salvage Title. I didn't want to do that, so I took their offer. they did pay me well. But their attitude really pissed me off! I had no say in any of it!
Took their money and ran! I went to a different insurance company for the Goose for about half of what they wanted anyway. I did check Progressive's quote for the Goose and it was over twice what I paid for the RE. And I got Goose insured for slightly more than the original RE rate anyway. Progressive sucks on many levels. I'd never use them again.

I'm glad you have shed the baggage of the crash.  I'm just getting over my DRZ theft from 2 years ago.  I don't look on craigslist anymore.  However, I could use some therapy too.  Therapy is the perfect word for it and I'm glad the Goose has been so good to you.

Love my Bullet but I really want another bike with 45+ ponies under tank.  Maybe if Ace figures out how to cram another cylinder into that sweet Continental frame.

boggy, my best therapy is to go down to my favorite micro brew
               http://www.horseflybrewing.com/
for regular treatments....  I favor the Scottish Ale... then I went ahead and finally satisfied that urge
for more with the Honda Valkyrie....  about 100hp pushing just under
700 lb's.....   back in Sept. I hooked up with a bunch of the
ole Rally on the River guys and really got a kick out of hearing those valves tapping.  I don't think I could go back but it's still part of me.

Those beers look good Baird.  Colorado seems to know how to do beer.  I know I'm late to the party on this one, but I've been drinking Fat Tire lately and I must say, they go down very easy.

Those Valkyries are BEASTS.

The Valkyrie's motor is sideways. It's supposed to be done like this:
