I have one that is EXCELLENT shape that needs paint and the badges that I'm not going to use on my build.  And by excellent I mean no rust, dents, dings or anything.  In fact the bike only ran until the mid 60's where it sat until I picked it up.  I happen to be a painter too so if you need it painted we can negotiate that in price, but if you plan on restoring the bike anyways it would be best to paint it with the rest of the parts so the color matches.

Hell I was waiting for him to make me an offer.  If I don't hear anything soon I think I may pull it out and start refabbing it for my needs.  IDK  Why, are you interested in the tank?  Everything has a price.   ;)

(For some reason the email reply would not send..so Im responding in the open.)
Thats not as bad as I thought it was going to be. My bike has a little 2 gallon peanut tank on it:

Which Id love to get rid of and put on a fullsized original one. This one is only good for riding around town..and Id like to be able to ride over to the next big town, 45 miles away and back without running out of fuel.
The holidays are coming..so if you still have the tank after the first of the year...Ill see if I can come up with some money to send you.  Thanks for the reply.  Any suggestions for a headlamp?  The one on the bike is a tractor headlamp...chuckle

Any aftermarket headlight bracket for a 35mm fork tube and 7" headlight assembly should work fine.

So those clamp on headlight brackets on Ebay will work on this scooter? I was a bit concerned that they would be too big or too small.  Which reminds me...my fork tubes.  How should those be cleaned up..I suspect the chrome is gone. Or should I hunt around for another set? I see them occasionally on Ebay for reasonable money. As one can see in my photos...there is no hint of chrome.

Looking at the pics I would disassemble the fork tubes and start wet sanding everything that is supposed to be shiny.  Once you get the grime and corrosion sanded off you can get the shine back by buffing the pieces on a bench grinder with a buffing wheel.

I think the bike looks beyond reasonable repair and you should let me get rid of it for you.  You don't want a pile of metal at your house, the neighbors will complain.  ;D

Much obliged for the info on attempting the fork restoration. One assumes that if it turns out to be pitted..it should be replaced or rechromed?

And D..Ill definately take that in mind. One couldnt have junk around the homestead. Indeed.  Which reminds me..Im going to be starting on this come spring....

Just heads up because I know a couple different people asked me about it.  The gas tank for the '59 Chief is sold and no longer available.
