Light that is.  Went for a ride with DanK today through the Rockies.  After a few hours of riding we pulled over and said our goodbyes and started heading our separate ways home.  About 10 minutes later I get a gut feeling telling me something is wrong despite how well the bike was running.  So I pulled over at the next exit and rolled into a gas station.  Checked the gas, good there.  Check the oil, plenty in that tank too.  Go inside to use the bathroom and call my wife.  Walk back up to The Blackhawk and the headlight is just hanging there by the wires!    :o  I thought "Shit.  BOTH bolts fell out?!"  Nope, the mounting tabs had broken completely off of both sides of the fork shrouds and the bolts were still in the headlight housing.  I guess I HAVE to order the headlight mounting bracket now.  LOL  Luckily, I was able to barely fit the headlight in my fender bag and was able to get it back home.

Looks like your light is mounted to the original thin metal fork shroud brackets. Cut them off and make a heavy bracket that bolts to the triple tree.  ERC

Yep.  Cheap ass stamped pot metal.  Or whatever it is, it's junk.

Can you really complain they're cheap.  They lasted for 55 years after all. . .

It was more of an observation than a complaint.  It's been slowly breaking for a while, hence all the Gorilla Tape on the right side fork shroud.  But in all fairness it only had about 30 years under it's belt.....  It sat in a barn for for 25 years.   ;D

Worse yet. Intergranular corrosion is hard to catch! Be happy, the wires held it! You still have a headlight.
My poor old tribar light had a penchant for falling out and being saved by the wires until I figured out that the clip that holds the headlight ring on was hitting the boss inside the casquette and not putting enough overlap on the rim. I had to grind the boss down and no more problems. Of course, that discovery was one fallout too late as the headlight finally dropped completely off the bike before I found out why.

Custom CNC Machine Aluminum Headlight Brackets!!!

I won't admit how much I paid for them but they are sweet!  Too bad my left fork leg is being a punk and seized in the casquette.  I'll get it out of there tomorrow.  ;)
