Anyone else ever have trouble with their Amal carb vapor locking on them? I've noticed it's been a constant issue on my brand new 930 Concentric. At first I thought it was crappy fuel petcocks, replaced them. Then I thought the gas cap, so I gave it a thorough cleaning and drilled out the vent hole on top a couple sizes bigger. Then I went after float bowl adjustment and adjusted that probably a half dozen times and I KNOW it's perfect now. But even still, with the bike tuned
superbly I might add, I'll be cruising along and the bike starts acting like it's starving. Look down at the fuel filter and it's empty. Crack open the reserve and both filters fill up immediately and bike starts running fine. Close the reserve, and sure shit, no more than 15-20 minutes further into the ride and it's doing it again. Weird part is that it happens more frequent when the tank starts getting below about 2/3 of a tank. So when the tank is fuel there must be enough weight/pressure behind it that it's not an issue? All I know is that I'm convinced it has something to due with the fact that there isn't 1 single vent tube on the entire carb. What's up with that?
Maybe time to invest in a Mikuni flat slide?
