Not sure if this is national news or not, but damn near the entire the state of Colorado is flooded right now.  It's been raining non-stop since Monday, and Wednesday night/Thursday we got an additional 7"+ of rain.  Everything was so flooded yesterday morning that it took me almost 45 minutes to ride the Beamer about 5 miles just across town.  So many streets were closed it was ridiculous.  At least 3 different times I was forced to ride thru about 6-10" of standing water.  When I finally go to my co-workers house, I had to dump about 2 cups of water out of each of my boots (which are water-proof unless water is pouring inside of them from the top of the boot).  Schools closed early yesterday and are remaining closed today.  Here's the story from Yahoo News.

The Big Thompson was JUST about to burst again and they caught it just in time to open up the damn to relieve the water.  The city of Lyons is completely cut off by the outside world, no way in or out of town.  I heard Loveland was divided into 2 cities, North and South,  by a river in the middle of town that flooded so badly that all the roads/bridges that crossed over it were gone.  Every street in Aurora (where I live) had a river down down the side of it, some 3 lane streets were reduced to a half of a lane (or completely closed) with 6-10" of water in the remaining lane.  Some cars were stalled out in the right in road in different parts of town in what had to be 18" of standing water.  One intersection had 3 cars stalled out with water 1/3 of the way up the doors on one little car.  Hopefully it's not so disastrous driving to work this morning.

Yes, be safe.  Wife and I were visiting family in Boulder last year and spent time near the creek and campus.  Noticed the high water markers for the Thompson flood.  Seems these 100 year floods are happening more often?

Yeah, I saw that last night. Hell of a way to relieve a heat wave! I noticedd it took out a trailer park. Does it think it's a tornado?

I did my best to keep that rain from getting up to you Scottie J.

As it passed over my house here in Phoenix I got 1/2 inch out of it.
I wouldn't have minded getting a little bit more but what's a mother to do?

Someone on facebook shared this video this morning.  It is in Evergreen, CO, about 30 minutes west of Denver in the Rocky Mountains.  As you can see the flooding is just insane!  We're supposed to get hit with another bad rain storm on Sunday again too.

Bare

It's taken out more than a trailer park, it has taken out roads and entire sections and blocks of cities.  It's just unimaginable how much damage is being done by these floods.  It hasn't stopped raining since Monday night.  It can stop any day now.

ScottieJ:  Not much u can do about water coming down..Glad to see the loss of life is minimal but the amount of people unaccountable is creeping up..Hopefully it's just because they haven't been able to check in with love ones....Glad to see you were able to navigate with the bike but you might want to wait till this blows over...

It's finally not raining today.  Yay!  Now time to get the Beamer from my friend's house and then take the Blackhawk out for a ride while I can!
