Nope I'm not going to talk about it ;),,,,we have a section that will soon be open for that  8) but I did read an interesting article on the autoeveloution website.  ;D

http://www.autoevolution.com/news/royal-enfield-continental-gt-cafe-racer-in-europe-from-october-66318.html

The writing style and photography of the article does have a certain appeal.  ;D

Well, since we aren't talking about it (yet) in its dedicated thread either...

Kevin said:

There are 50 plus Cafe Racers here awaiting the journalists for a lot of riding.

I assume that most moto journalists would understand that these engines need to be broken in, but I never would have bought mine if my test ride had been on a brand new model.  I'm hoping against hope that all 50 of those bikes have at least 1000 miles on them!

"Here you go, mate, but listen, nothing over half-throttle, ok?  Be sure to give us a bang-up review!"

jest sayin'...

I'm pretty excited for Kevin and Royal Enfield.  First all new RE in decades?  That's pretty cool.  The bike looks really sharp.

I wish it wasn't going to be $8k US.  8k gets you a heck of a lot of bike these days.  I get it - and I hope they do sell a ton of them but I wish there was another cylinder for 8k.

But I don't want to be a bummer. It looks like great motorcycle and I bet it's ridiculously fun to ride.  The old Continental GT is one of my favorite looking bikes of all time and what turned me on to the brand.  I hope they sell a ton.

I mentioned to Kevin about 4 years ago that it would be very cool to have a new "Rickman Enfield" with a Rickman frame, as sort of a tie-in to the older Rickman Interceptor.
It looks like this is going to be it. The Harris dual-cradle frame on this bike is very much like the Rickman frame was.

I like this bike as a basic platform for a Cafe Racer.
It will be fast enough for many people, right out of the box. And for those who want more, I assure you that we'll be able to make it hotter. This layout is tailor made for an Ace performance upgrade.

I think it's a great step for RE to make, and it was a long time in coming.

There sure are tons of break and suspension tuning parts and goodies available these days for bikes that run name brand suspension and breaks.

Just as long as the GT is delivered intact.  I hate things that are intac or in tac.  That's just tacky.

Or when people say "your" instead of "you're".  And just all the random BS words that people make up these days.

The official website has a "book a test ride" pull-down.  You start by choosing your country.  The two choices are United Kingdom and France.  France?  Who knew we could go to Marseille for a test ride?!?

Here is a positive first-ride review from Visor Down. It really is a sharp looking motorcycle.  Who else ships with bar-end mirrors?

That's some fairly positive press for it.

I felt a little bit slighted when they said to buy some other brand of motorcycle if you want to do "The Ton".
After all, there are plenty of Ton-Up Royal Enfield Bullets out there on the road now, and they are no secret. We've been making them for years.

Cool video, not a fan of the music.  Plus the mix on the bike exhaust/engine volume was way too quiet.

I really liked that video - I dug the tunes and the vibe.

scoTTy, I think you could ditch the generic bits, like the silver fenders and the lights, and get it looking good.  I think black fenders and a small black light would be slick with that black frame and red paint.  Maybe black shocks too.  8)

What is the grey (silver?) slotted plate just by the brake pivot?  Is it hiding, or protecting, a hydraulic reservoir?

I am down in Orlando for the AimExpo and happened to run into Kevin M. and a continental Enfield. Pretty sweet looking ride. (Kevin was on his phone when I snapped the picture, sorry Kevin)
