I fear the reason it is a basket case is because I was riding and maintaining it like a jap bike, not like a fragile egg.

Well, unless you lost half the parts riding down the road and blew your connecting rod thru the case, I think you'll be in pretty good shape.  Even with a blown motor, it will not be terribly expensive OR difficult to rebuild your Enfield.  Time, patience and money is all you need.  Oh!  And a little help from this forum.   ;)

Sent my registration in today.  Hope to see others there as well.

I have a tentative "navigator" for the sidecar in order to take part in the rally on the Saturday.  If anyone else wants to take part on their bike, we could probably get away with "bending" any competition rules and ride as a group?

PS> I did get a hint at the rally description from the organizer when I asked about doing it on the bike: "There are two aspects to it: 1) following the route which a navigator would be helpful for and 2) some funkana games. I think you would have a good time. We do give awards but it's very low pressure, intended to be fun and not too competitive."

I hope to make it up there. I'm having a few issues with the carb throttle cable not staying locked in to the carb.  Ordered new parts today and hope to get back on the road late next week.

I'll be there. The first car I bought, in high school, was an MG Midget. Rolled it. I could only afford a bike after that, the CL360 with the "scrambler" up high pipes. This ought to be a good day. Thank you.

Yup, time and money is what it will take.  Seems every part I remove leads to a new problem.  I'd rather not trailer it anywhere while it's in pieces.

This bike was stored for 3.5 years.  It had fallen on its side for awhile. I claimed it about a year and a half ago. Thus the low miles and inexperienced owner.

I will not be able to make it up there from Houston.  My trip was contingent on my son moving into his new home.  He closed last Friday and I went to Austin last weekend to help move in.

Couldn't make the event in Round Rock but did attend the Harvest Moon Classic in Luckenbach.  Lots of nice old bikes there, saw this beauty and talked with rvcycleguy for a bit, also saw a chrome C5 (black) there but didn't get to talk with the owner.  Hoping to be there next year.

I was not able to make the Harvest Classic.  Sorry I missed you guys.

I did get 3rd in the the "British Sport" class at the Round Rock show.  (That class is one of the 'catch all' classes.)  There were about 5 in the class from what I hear.  First place went to a fully restored, concourse 1951 Singer drop-top, second place was an authentic 1962 AC Cobra, third place was my 2012 C5 Military with sidecar.

TW, It was a pleasure to see you in Luckenbach last weekend.  Weather was fantastic and the bikes were outstanding. Wife and I had a great time.  We go every year from Houston. Next stop for us is the Lone Star rally in Galveston this coming weekend.  Hope to run in to you again sometime.
