Went for an adventure ride today with 2 good friends.  I didn't feel the Blackhawk was up for such a big ride yet, so Paul let me ride his '01 BMW GS650, he was on his new '12 BMW GSR1200 and Caleb and his girlfriend were riding his '04 ??? Triumph Tiger 955i Triple.  We met at Starbucks in Aurora, CO for coffee at 9am and looked at the Gazetteer to find a route.  We decided to take I-25 South into Pine Creek and took 67 South into the mountains.  67 is a super fun road with lots of twisties and great views.  From there we traveled Rampart Range Rd down to Woodland Park, CO, 42 miles of twistie, hilly dirt road!  I have to say I felt very comfortable on the GS650 with the Shinko 705 tires.  Even in the dirt they held up quite firm.  Tho we mostly took it easy, we also had some fun at times and Paul I opened it up to 55mph on 1 stretch, then my ABS kicked in as I was entering the next turn (I should have remembered to turn it off) so that got the heart rate going.   ;)

About 2 hours after we started on the dirt we made our way to the other end and into Woodland Park where we stopped at Ute Pass Brewery for lunch.  I had some excellent Mountain Man Sliders that were made of 1/4 ground elk, 1/4 ground bison and 1/2 ground beef.  They were very tasty and the beer sampler wasn't bad either!  :)  After lunch we geared back up and headed back onto 67 North and enjoyed some spirited riding following behind 2 raced out Vipers.  I got to open up the bike and see what it had and took her up 95mph on a straight but the Vipers ditched us.  LOL  Next we stopped in my favorite nowhere-po-dunk town Deckers, CO.  It's basically 1 multi-unit building in the middle of nowhere where 2 of the best motorcycle roads meet and riders break together and chat.  After we pulled up, a '93 Ferrari 348 pulls in.  Beautiful car!  Left on 67 North again and followed the Platte River for a while and then jumped on another dirt for about 8 miles or so back onto 67 North for some more spirited riding and I-25 North back home.  And for the record, that BMW really spoiled the shit out of me.  What a nice riding bike.  It pretty much drove itself, I just told it how fast to go and which way to turn.  Even after a 6 hour ride I don't feel too beat up.   :D

Total Distance: 151 miles
Amount of Dirt Traveled: 60 miles
Total Time: 6 hours

That car makes me want to watch some Miami Vice re-runs.  Ride sounded fun.  Hard to read this stuff from behind a desk at work.
