My 2013 RE Military only has 200 miles on it.  In that short time, I have suspected that my speedometer is showing more than actual mph.

Today, as compared to my Garmin GPS speed indication, my RE's speedometer is showing between 2 and 3 mph more than the GPS.  (I actually thought that it would be between 4 and 5 mph).

Are these figures pretty consistent with what other's are getting?

Your speedo could be seen as very accurate, I have heard of and experienced far greater inaccuracies than that !!!! Enjoy :)

I love the usage of the term "Speed Hypothesizer" for this part of our REs that I've seen used here on the forums.

The odometers on all four of my speedometers were actually quite accurate when driven by Avon Speed Master MkII front tires.

Catbird, The OEM speedometer is inaccurate as you've noticed :(
mine at all speeds shows its 5 MPH slower than actual speed...saves me from getting a speeding ticket....Ive checked this with GPS readings to be true for me...
I have installed a Sigma Bicycle computer...(Very Cheap on Amazon, I used model # BC 1609 ) a NON Wireless one works best..

2010 Electra (E5), tire Avon AM26 Roadrider
Speedometer: 8 kph (5 mph) higher.
All speedo's used to be set high. Lately an automobile association warned drivers that the digital displays on current cars have a much lower margin and some are even at the mark. Old habits may result in nasty surprises. But not for us.  :)

Most speedos on bikes nowadays are about 10% fast. However the law says the Odometers must be accurate for warranty purposes. They don't want the manufacturers to cut people short on that point!
My G5 was about on par with Catbirds, about 2-3 mph fast. They are not driven the same way so one can get the odometer straight to start with, but the speedos are easily variable if you can get into the speedo.

My speedometer is only about 2-3 mph "high" but I think that is because of my 19" front wheel.
The 18" wheels are spinning about 5.5 percent faster at any given speed so at 50 mph that would add about 3 mph to my 2-3 mph making it read about 5mph faster.

I think the chances of RE actually installing a speedometer drive that would be geared 5 percent slower for the 18" wheel bikes is probably slim to none.

If you really want the speedo to be accurate you cnan take it to a speedo shop and they can fix it, but it's still going to be off a bit as the tire wears, or you change tires.
Some of the RE speedos are off far more than what we're discussing here.

Thank you all for the feedback!

Based upon what has been said, I am content with the amount of inaccuracy I'm seeing in my bike's speedo.

You can guess it just by checking against the GPS once.  Mine indicates 2 to 3 mph faster than GPS says up to 40 indicated.  At 50 indicated I'm doing 45.  And it stays pretty close to 5 mph optimistic on up.  55 indicated is 50 actual; 60 indicated is 55 actual; 65 indicated is 60 actual.  If I need higher readings than that I need to switch bikes or get in a cage.

Almost every speedometer in the world will read faster that what the speed actually is. It builds in a buffer for speeding. Also these slight differences are within a reasonable standard of error. It is not something to worry about.

Also GPS units are not especially accurate as a speedometer. They measure from points on the globe and time; at that they are very accurate. But if it is not a completely straight line between those points your GPS will also be inaccurate.

One of the best things about riding an RE is you will never get a speeding ticket. I never read my speedo. What's the point? All it does well is needle bounce anyway. I just keep up with traffic and enjoy a casual ride!
