I'm About to do the PAV removal mod and I found a M16x1.5 threaded bung at Advance Auto parts.  It seems just about perfect for the job, but it has a non-threaded extension which protrudes further into the engine.  From the tip, there's about a half inch of non-threaded length, then the half inch of threading, then the hex head.

Will this non-threaded protrusion reduce the air-flow capacity of my engine?  Will it interfere with internal moving parts?  If so, should I just cut off the protrusion with a sawzall or dremel, and file off any loose shavings?  I'd rather not modify it if it won't cause problems, but willing to make the change if it'll help out.

Thanks!

Chuck
