I'll be buttoning up my 5 speed gearbox. I have the old gasket that looks pretty stout, also I have a new one from nfield. If I use the new one should I use any gasket sealer? On other machines I've used Permatex HiTac. Better to ask I suppose.
Cheers,
Bill

There are others that will come off easier in case you have to remove it. HiTac will work fine though.   ERC

I don't use any sealer on the gearbox covers. Just the correct gasket.

I like Permatex Spray-A-Gasket.  Makes the gasket tacky so it stays in place during assembly, comes apart easily if you have to disassemble later, and I've never had any paper or composite gasket I've sprayed with it leak.
