I recently purchased my first Royal Enfield. It is a 500cc. We think it is an early 50s British made Bullet but not positive. I really need some help on this. The engine number is WC505 and the frame has two sets of numbers: x4759 and 2/33474. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Thank You

It's a '54. The casquette with the lights were introduced that year and the frame was changed in '56. The front brake on the '55 was a full width hub with dual brakes inside. This is ASSuming it's all original.

It appears to be a 54, but I would say it isn't a 500cc. The pump covers on those are oval the ones on the bike appear to be square like the 350s.  ERC

Brakes, gearbox, oil pumps all look to be identical to my '54 350 from what I can tell from the picture.  My serial number is 27786, which is 5,688 before yours.  Not sure what the annual production rate was but could quite possibly be the same year.
Also think your serial number should read G2/33474 (G2 being the model).

Production was quite high in '54 as the Brits were working 24/7 building 350s for India. This is why the Indians took over production as the factory was having trouble filling the order.
But in '54 the factory was building all the bikes. As mentioned above, yours would be more likely an 350 and was possibly an export to India.
The next year or so, after the Indians had the long term contract settled, the factory made a deal with them to partially produce the bikes and started sending them kits rather than fully assembled bikes, then started sending them 1955 tooling s they could start building parts and subassemblies. In 1962, all the tooling had been sent to them and the Indians started producing the complete bike. They didn't start selling civilian models until about '75. The 500s came out in '89
