Have you successfully kick started it in the past before the electric start issue arose ?

Thanks for all the input. The issue ended up being a frayed wire that the factory had tethered too tightly to the frame with one of those plastic zip-ties. But it was way up under the gas tank somewhere, making it a huge pain to find and repair. Thankfully all is well and the B5 is running once again.   :)

So, after what seemed like a successful fix, I'm having more electric issues with the B5:

Key turned, lights on, on/off switch "on," can hear the juice flowing, nothing from the starter. Kick-start doesn't work.

After I roll the bike up and down the block, I can start it in neutral with the clutch in after getting some "buzzing" from the starter. Bike runs great after, but continues to have the same problem after I stop, park and turn it off.

Also, blinkers work, but don't show up in the display.
