The other week I bought some oil filters and an air filter.
The standard air filter was $46 the oil filters were 14 a piece. Just saw on hitchcocks the exact sme air filter is £7.50 and the oil filters are £3.85 a piece. Unbelievable.

Hi, Sectorsteve, and welcome to the elite.   :)
Based on your posts and others', it sure seems the majority of dealers/importers down under are pretty unscrupulous. I'm also glad to see that at least the good ones are there, too. I never begrudged anyone a decent profit, but I'll only get raped once, then it's off to see the wizards... in this case E-bay, NField Gear, Bullet Walla, Hitchcock's, or even these forums. Theses alternatives, even with shipping, will always beat the almost criminal prices for dealer parts/labor. And it's more rewarding to DIY anyway, even though it seems at least one one item is always "back ordered".   :)

I'm with ya. I'm happy to pay for stuff but when they're charging triple then it's a no brainer. I'll buy the stuff online, stock up a bit. Will save a fair bit even with shipping.

thats true. imported car dealers here especially for the european jobs don't ask for a slice of the cake.
they take the whole cake - the coffee - the cup -the spoon and sweeten you up with the sugar- and we will throw in the floor mats on the deal for free! lol
e.g. how could the bmw z4 assembled in the usa at around $35k land here in oz and have a price tag of $109k

Is it true that food servers make $25 an hour in Oz?
I might have to migrate over and become a chef,...that rides a motorcycle.

Wild bill. Havent you heard of luxury car tax? That's why a BMW cost double here. In the governments pocket.
Still doesn't explain why a cheap item like an air filter should be nearly 50 bucks.

And yes RE food servers do get abut 25 an hour. BUT the cost of living is so high. Where I live you need to earn 2000 pw just to be able to save money. 1000 pw will keep ,your head just above water.

You might want to holiday in the States,...with that good Aussie dollar  ;).

Some areas of Alaska are ridiculous on the pocket book too.

I rode my enfield 2000km/1200 mile to go to a party the other weekend as I couldn't afford a plane ticket. I'll ride to Alaska. Would love to go there :)

Hi SectorSteve, I live in Brisbane, I just needed to tell you that I agree with you 100%, you would think with all the business closing down in Australia they would get the message, look what's happened to Ford.

I have had the same experience, it is much cheaper to buy from the UK and or the US than in Australia even when you include freight, I think it all comes down to greed.

Hi SectorSteveI brought me G5 from Greg at the Scootershed in Cairns, had it freighted down home to Bowen. I give him a call and he sends me down my filters etc, no problems and at a pretty ggod price. The filter was nowhere near $14.00 more like $7 or $8. I rode the bike back up to Cairns last year and he did the 12000 service for me . I have been doing my own servicing but I just wanted someone else to run their eye over things in case I had been missing something. He did a great job and the price was very reasonable, even offered to put me up for the night. His phone number is (07) 40512243.

Cheers  :)

Hocko in in Sydney. I might try the guy in the gong. The 2 dealers here are no go. There's a new dealer in home bush but I still paid 46 bucks for the air filter and they're only new with Enfield. I know more about the bike than they do , so it's pointless...
