I wasn't satisfied with the way my new canvas panniers sat on my B5 with small sportster rack , they hung on bad angles both vertical and horizontally   and interfered with the shocks . As I'm planning  some future touring and camping  I decided to make a bigger custom rack with pannier supports .  I found  it's beyond my design skills to come up with something both practical and nice looking so I went with practical but ugly.  Almost finished but I keep seeing improvements to do, plenty of tool storage possibility underneath the deck.  (All 10mm round bar and 30mm x 3 mm flat )

I don't think that looks ugly at all.  It looks functional, and pretty damn strong.

I concur.  Clean, functional design that complements the lines of your RE.  Get it powder-coated Green and you have a winner.  I'm powder-coating mine ($50, their minimum) Blue Streak (I luv the name, especially for a RE).  Its just an aluminum U that bolts to my C-Bow brackets, much simpler design than yours.  I'll publish pictures when it's done.

I'm using these reflective, elastic ROK straps as tie-downs.  They pack small so you carry several and don't have those huge bungee cord hooks that waste space.  Other colors available (do you like Pink?).

They look really good and strong Jako. Good work.

I think those sloping rear supports are the biggest problem to get round aesthetically.

Thanks for all the positive feedback , I guess by ugly I really mean bulky , to bulky for a bullet but that's price for functionality

Although  heavier then tube  I went with 10 mm solid round bar for ease of shaping , welding and  strength , all up it came in about 3kg  ( 6 1\2  lb ) .  With the weight I already removed with the solo seat conversion and full sports exhaust I'm not  concerned with  3 kg.

Bert I do intent to eventually have it powder coated  but for now I will just paint it , I'm sure once in use I will figure out something else needs to be welded on  or altered
