Picked up a 2011 B5 with under 1000 miles for 3K. Garaged, maintained, new battery, great condition and ride. It would be a vast understatement to assert that I am thrilled. Thank you all, and especially Ducati Scotty, for your invaluable knowledge and guidance.

P.S. Not to pluck the beard, but I am leaving her stock. How about that.  ;D

Congratulations on your new bike. The only upgrades I would suggest is a 7 inch sealed beam, a Hitchcock EFI exhaust  ;)

Well done!

And I completely agree with BRADEY...especially regarding the EFI silencer.  :)

Enjoy and ride safe!

I would go as far as to say that the exhaust is a personal preference thing, but I believe that small headlight is a real safety issue.  Yea, DOT regs require adjustability, but my OEM light was useless to the point of dangerous when riding at night.  If you plan to ride after dark, make the change...

Where would one find one of these 7 inch sealed beam units that I hear so much about?

I purchased a 7" ring kit from India via ebay for a fraction of the cost from a us dealer,  I think I was around $20 for the inner and outer rings,  I upgraded the shipping (an extra $10) and had the rings in 4 days,  they look great and its a very easy install. 7" bulbs are priced anywhere from $8 (at walmart)  up to around $50 for an unsealed from a bike shop.

You got a great deal on the bike,  good score,  now get out and put some miles on it!

Congrats on the new ride, I suggest a Goldstar EFI silencer from Hitchcocks, nice sound and looks good.

You can get sealed beam headlights from auto parts stores that work fine for under $15.00.
Then get a can of Dri-Slide to lubricate your cables and some ACF-50 to spray the bike down for corrosion control. These beasts do tend to rust.

All great tips - maintenance, checking/lubing the cables - and the 7-inch headlight. I hear you on that one and will certainly upgrade. Thanks, gents.
